Historical patch guide

Deadlock Historical Guide — August 12, 2026

August 12’s update changes several hero upgrades, damage patterns, and targeting rules. Recheck affected choices and test timing, range, and durability changes.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Fixes, Heroes, Gameplay. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Apollo: compare Riposte upgrade value

What changed: Riposte’s melee-resist reduction increased from -22% to -25%. T2 changed from -30% melee resist to -25% melee resist and +0.4 seconds of stun duration. T3’s lifesteal increased from 60% for 7 seconds to 75% for 13 seconds.

How to adapt: Test T2 where its added stun duration could matter, while weighing that against the smaller listed melee-resist reduction; do not assume one version is better in every situation.

Billy: Rising Ram T3 has a new payoff

What changed: Rising Ram T3 changed from dealing 7% of maximum health as spirit damage on impact to granting +10% maximum HP for 16 seconds on hero hit. Base health regeneration fell from 2.5 to 2.0, and Chain Gang spirit scaling fell from 1 to 0.7.

How to adapt: Test Rising Ram T3 as a temporary-health effect that requires a hero hit, rather than as impact damage, and reassess how much you rely on Billy’s reduced regeneration and Chain Gang scaling.

Holliday: Powder Keg damage is split over time

What changed: Powder Keg now deals half its damage immediately and half as a damage-over-time burn over 3 seconds. Overall damage is unchanged, and multiple instances stack.

How to adapt: When testing a keg’s damage timing, account for the delayed half and check how overlapping burns behave; stacking is confirmed, but the notes do not state that total damage per instance increased.

McGinnis: retest turrets and Medicinal Specter tiers

What changed: Mini Turrets no longer shoot heroes on ziplines and no longer have 80% decaying resist during their first 6 seconds. Their health increased from 90 + 7.8 per boon to 100 + 9 per boon. Medicinal Specter T1 changed from +40% spirit resist to +1.5 seconds of duration; T3 lost its +1.5-second duration increase and now also adds +40% spirit resistance. McGinnis’s bullet damage base and growth fell by 5%, and spirit resist per boon fell from +0.625% to +0.35%.

How to adapt: Test turret targeting against ziplining heroes and compare early turret durability without the former temporary resist; then reassess Specter tiers around T1 duration versus T3’s added spirit resistance. Keep McGinnis’s separate bullet-damage and spirit-resist reductions in mind when evaluating the changes.

Other targeted hero changes

What changed: Doorman’s Doorway range fell from 70m to 65m; The Walker no longer considers Luggage Cart-dragged enemies valid stomp targets until soon after drop-off. Base healing-area turrets also wait before considering valid targets. Drifter’s Rend spirit scaling fell from 1.7 to 1.4, and Stalker’s Mark cooldown rose from 24 to 26 seconds while its T2 cooldown reduction fell from 12 to 10 seconds. Ivy’s Stone Form T3 stun bonus fell from 1 to 0.75 seconds. Lash’s falloff range changed from 20m–58m to 18m–54m. Paige’s Plot Armor weapon-damage scaling rose from 0.2 to 0.3; Seven’s Lightning Ball T3 radius rose from 1.5m to 1.75m; Vindicta’s Stake T1 damage fell from 65 to 45; and Vyper’s Petrifying Bola radius and petrify duration rose from 8m to 12m and 2 to 2.2 seconds. Wraith’s Card Trick Heart heal scaling fell from 1 to 0.75, and Full Auto T3 spirit scaling fell from 0.06 to 0.045.

How to adapt: Test the affected range, cooldown, control, and scaling values in the situations where you rely on them; in particular, check Doorman’s target timing, the new Lash falloff endpoints, and Vyper’s broader, slightly longer Bola control rather than assuming overall hero strength from isolated stat changes.
