Historical patch guide

Deadlock Historical Guide — March 21, 2026

Health and Spirit investment, item ranges and resistances, and many hero abilities changed. Recheck key breakpoints, reach, cooldowns, and execution timing.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Heroes, Items, Gameplay, Fixes. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Recheck investment and ability-range assumptions

What changed: Hero health growth increased by 3 and 4%, the Vitality investment bonus returned to a percentage of base health, and Spirit investment values were rescaled. Small neutrals gained Spirit resistance, from 35% to 45%. Ability Range fell on numerous items, including Greater Expansion (35% to 30%), Guardian Ward (10% to 8%), and Echo Shard, which no longer grants it.

How to adapt: Retest health and Spirit breakpoints and Spirit damage against small neutrals, and verify the reach of abilities that depend on these items. The listed item changes are not exhaustive, so check each relevant item's current value rather than assuming old range combinations still apply.

Reassess defensive item values

What changed: Blood Tribute Spirit Resist fell from 10% to 8%, while Enchanter's Emblem rose from 15% to 18% and Restorative Locket from 8% to 10%. Metal Skin Bullet Resist fell from 15% to 12%.

How to adapt: Update calculations and compare the specific resistance each item supplies before relying on an old defensive setup; these opposing changes do not establish that one item is universally preferable.

Account for mobility changes and cooldown tradeoffs

What changed: Ivy's Air Drop ally cast range increased from 18m to 22m, while its cooldown rose from 65s to 85s; use on allies reduces cooldown by 25%. Calico's Ava is no longer disabled by damage-over-time abilities. Calico's Return to Shadows movement speed fell from 30% to 20% and its cooldown rose from 90s to 100s.

How to adapt: For Ivy, try ally casts from the revised range and factor the longer cooldown into repeated-use plans, noting the stated 25% reduction for ally use. For Calico, check Ava against damage over time and separately adjust expectations for Return to Shadows' speed and availability.

Relearn changed engagement spacing and control

What changed: Wraith's Telekinesis range fell from 13m to 10m, cast time increased from 0.35s to 0.45s, cooldown rose from 120s to 130s, and debuff duration fell from 2.75s to 2.25s. Mo & Krill's Combo range fell from 4.8m to 4m and DPS from 45 to 40, while its cooldown fell from 140s to 130s.

How to adapt: Test approach distance and timing for Wraith's Telekinesis and Mo & Krill's Combo rather than using old spacing assumptions; account for the Combo cooldown reduction without treating it as compensation for the shorter reach and lower DPS.

Check significant damage and survivability adjustments

What changed: Abrams gains 10% more melee damage per boon, and his Seismic Impact impact height rose from 4m to 6m. Dynamo's ammo rose from 18 to 20, while Kinetic Pulse Spirit scaling fell from 2.1 to 1.8. Mirage's Fire Scarabs no longer steal max health or apply +10% Damage Amp; they now drain life for 8 seconds, heal Mirage, and reduce enemy damage output by 20% (15% in T3). Shiv gained a stamina charge, with stamina cooldown increased from 4.5s to 5.5s, and Bloodletting is now affected by healing modifiers.

How to adapt: Recheck how these changes affect your own build and execution: test Abrams' altered impact reach, Dynamo's ammunition and Kinetic Pulse damage, and Mirage's replacement Scarabs effects. For Shiv, account for the extra stamina charge and longer recharge, and recalculate Bloodletting healing when modifiers are involved.
