Historical patch guide

Deadlock Update Guide — November 7, 2024

Review changed soul rewards, camp positions, defenses, items, and hero abilities; test routes and ability timing rather than assuming a best strategy.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Heroes, Items, Gameplay, Fixes, Interface. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Recheck soul income and camp routes

What changed: Troopers no longer change soul-sharing rules after laning, so two heroes do not split their souls then; their 20% bounty increase at eight minutes is removed. Hero-kill gold increases across the stated 0–45-minute range, while neutral creeps give 5% fewer souls. Eight camps move from behind the outer-lane Walkers to between the inner and outer lanes.

How to adapt: Test your usual farming route and compare the opportunities after lane phase; these changes affect both rewards and camp positions, but do not establish a best route or net income.

Account for changed defensive pressure

What changed: Troopers take 28% more damage from Guardians, and Walkers deal 10% more damage to players. A Guardian focuses an enemy player who shoots a hero while within 15m of that Guardian.

How to adapt: When testing a push or nearby fight, account for the stated damage changes and Guardian trigger; do not assume the focus rule applies outside its stated action and distance.

Note map and timing changes

What changed: Ground-floor entrances to Mid gain Cosmic Veils that grant vision looking in but block vision looking out. Walker armor loss over time begins at 16 minutes rather than 14; the 40-second respawn point on the curve moves from 20 to 17 minutes. Urn delivery locations move slightly closer to neutral positions.

How to adapt: Check these entrances and timing changes in play before adjusting your route or expectations; the notes do not establish that any particular approach is safer or more advantageous.

Reassess selected item effects

What changed: Close Quarters no longer grants 85 Bullet Shield Health and now grants 5% Bullet Resist. Restorative Shot no longer grants 7% Bullet Resist and now grants 90 Bullet Shield; it also procs on orb shots for NPC heal value. Long Range's long-range Weapon Damage falls from 40% to 30% and it gains 10% Weapon Damage; Sharpshooter's long-range Weapon Damage falls from 70% to 50% and it gains 20% Weapon Damage. Metal Skin no longer blocks melee damage. Slowing Hex loses damage and +1 Sprint, gains +10% Spirit Lifesteal and +75 Bonus Health, and its Spirit Power falls from 5 to 4. Decay gains HP Regen and Ability Duration, has greater healing reduction, lower bleed damage, and a shorter cooldown.

How to adapt: Review the exact effect you relied on before buying these items, especially Metal Skin against melee damage; test changed numbers in context rather than assuming they make one item or purchase universally preferable.

Practice changed hero ability windows

What changed: Bebop's Sticky Bomb gains more damage per hero impact but less per hero kill, and its T3 effect changes from Disarm to a -30% Damage Penalty for 5 seconds. Haze's Bullet Dance no longer hits two targets, grants 30% Fire Rate, and allows item use. Paradox's Time Wall loses charges and base max-health damage, has a shorter cooldown, and puts 10% Max Health Damage on T2. Yamato's Shadow Transformation lasts 6 seconds instead of 4, grants 60% Bullet and Spirit Resist, heals for 30% health after the dispel, and no longer prevents death.

How to adapt: Practice these changed ability timings and upgrade-dependent effects before relying on old outcomes. Yamato's revised defenses and healing do not guarantee survival, and Paradox's stated wall damage now requires T2.
