Historical patch guide

Deadlock Map Rework Guide — February 25, 2025

The three-lane map changes routes and economy. Review new flex-slot gates, orb timing and sprint rules, and learn Sinner’s Sacrifice’s melee timing rewards.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Fixes, Heroes, Items, Gameplay, Interface. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Relearn routes on the three-lane map

What changed: The map changed from four lanes to three, with accompanying changes to buildings, pathways, neutral camps, vents, breakables, powerups and juke spots. Outer ziplines are 15% faster. Explore Map provides an empty city for testing movement and navigation.

How to adapt: Use Explore Map to rehearse routes and check connections before relying on old lane assumptions; the notes specify a speed increase for outer ziplines only.

Reassess objectives and neutral camps

What changed: The first flex slot now requires two Guardians instead of three; the second requires one Walker instead of two. Side and mid Walker health increased. Post-laning trooper bounty increased to match the previous four-lane global economy. Neutral soul values fell 10%, while overall camp count and frequency increased; small and mid camp respawn times fell from four to three minutes and six to five minutes, respectively.

How to adapt: Track the revised Guardian and Walker thresholds when planning objective pressure, and test whether the more frequent, lower-value camps fit your route; the notes do not establish a universal economy outcome.

Adapt to the new soul-orb rules

What changed: Nearby players can now generate trooper souls without a player last-hitting the trooper; the near-death flashing behavior is gone. Orbs spend significantly less time airborne, have 10% more physical radius, and move less horizontally. Denies changed from 65/35% to 50/50%.

How to adapt: Test collection and denies against the shorter airborne window and reduced horizontal movement; nearby presence can generate souls without a player last hit, but the notes do not specify the exact proximity required.

Recheck sprint and Sinner’s Sacrifice timing

What changed: Default sprint speed increased from 0.5 to 1.0. Sprint disable duration after dealing or taking hero damage fell from five to four seconds; after dealing or taking non-hero damage it fell from five seconds to 0.5 seconds. Sinner’s Sacrifice no longer grants a random Golden Statue buff: a Heavy Melee kill during its looping timing window grants three buffs, while a Light Melee last hit grants one.

How to adapt: Recheck movement after hero and non-hero damage because the sprint-disable durations now differ. At Sinner’s Sacrifice, use its visual and audio cues to test the Heavy Melee timing window if aiming for three buffs; a Light Melee last hit is documented to give one.
