Historical patch guide

Deadlock Historical Guide — December 6, 2024

Review the Dec. 6, 2024 changes to Patron scaling, soul sharing, hero abilities, and queue tools; use the suggested checks as tests, not guaranteed outcomes.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Recheck objective timing, soul sharing, and Urn movement

What changed: Patron health changed to 7,500 and downed Patron health to 13,500, with growth beginning at 20 minutes; the notes describe their overall relative health as 25% lower at 20 minutes, equal at 30, and 25% higher at 40. After laning, a tick-based system distributes team-soul-based amounts to the two lowest-net-worth players (2% and 1%). During laning, a player can participate in four Soul Orb share events per trooper wave before being treated as lower priority. Carrying the Urn now fixes movement speed at 13, prevents speed increases or decreases, and no longer provides sprint; the spawn alternates sides, starting left.

How to adapt: When reviewing objective pressure, compare the game clock with the stated Patron scaling rather than assuming its health is uniformly lower. For lane rotations, account for the share-event limit without assuming ordinary play will change; check the Urn’s alternating spawn and do not plan on sprint or speed modifiers while carrying it.

Retest major ability changes before relying on old setups

What changed: Grey Talon's Immobilizing Trap was renamed Spirit Snare; on triggering, it applies a 1.75-second Curse in its radius instead of a tether, and Charged Shot can detonate it immediately in a 30% larger radius. Haze's sleep now permits movement at 2 m/s but prevents other actions, and damage still wakes the target. Pocket's Affliction now deals 18% of current health immediately on application; its damage over time, spirit scaling, and radius were reduced. Seven's Storm Cloud now grants a one-use Lightning Strike, targetable within ultimate range, which lands after a two-second delay in a 6 m area and deals 150 damage with 1.5 spirit scaling while knocking enemies away.

How to adapt: Test each changed interaction in a controlled setting before carrying forward an old combo: Spirit Snare is no longer a tether, a sleeping Haze target can move, and Pocket's Affliction now has an initial hit. With Seven, check the strike indicator and delay before judging its usefulness; the change does not guarantee a hit or a particular outcome.

Relearn Wraith and Warden control timings

What changed: Wraith's Telekinesis cast time fell from 0.7 to 0.4 seconds and its projectile speed rose from 650 to 750. It now briefly lifts and slams the target, leaving them silenced and disarmed for 2.5 seconds; T3 makes the projectile bounce to another nearby hero within 20 m. Warden's Last Stand resistance fell from 60% to 30%. If interrupted, it now goes on cooldown for 20 seconds rather than the full cooldown. Its T3 changed from cooldown reduction to +50% Bullet and Spirit Resistance during the channel and +2.5 seconds duration.

How to adapt: If facing these abilities, retest reaction windows and control duration instead of relying on pre-update assumptions. If using Warden, account for the lower base resistance and the shorter interruption cooldown; test whether the revised T3 channel benefit suits your approach before selecting it.

Check queue preferences and use the telemetry display

What changed: Extra Competitive lets players express a preference for teammates with similar coordination, communication, and competitiveness, but can be inactive when the player pool is very shallow. Queue Options groups it with Incoming Chat and party-only Lane Preference. The Telemetry HUD, enabled under Settings > Game, monitors frame rate and network conditions. Raven was added to Hero Labs.

How to adapt: Before queueing, inspect Queue Options and treat Extra Competitive as a preference, not a guarantee of team composition. To investigate a frame-rate or network issue, enable the Telemetry HUD and check its readings in the situation you are assessing. Describe Raven as a Hero Labs addition; these notes do not establish standard-mode availability.
