Historical patch guide

Deadlock Historical Guide — August 1, 2024

The August 1 update added Viscous and changed map routes, objectives, powerups, items, and hero abilities. Recheck navigation and timings before relying on old play.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Heroes, Items, Gameplay, Fixes, Interface. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Relearn routes and map cues

What changed: Teleporters were paired for horizontal travel; outer-lane teleporters were removed, and six teleporters were added between lanes. The notes also specify changed tunnel and street connections, a relocated Walker on Amber Yellow and Sapphire Purple lanes, and new minimap teleporter and underground-tunnel cues. Soul Orbs now have three equally likely initial directions: left, right, or up.

How to adapt: Inspect the minimap and entrances before reusing an old route, and verify the one-way connections in a match or Sandbox; the notes do not supply travel times. When contesting Soul Orbs, allow for their changed initial direction instead of assuming they first move the same way.

Expect different structure and objective pressure

What changed: Each trooper you shoot now prioritizes you over Guardians or Walkers for a few seconds. Walker laser DPS against troopers rose from 150 to 190. Destroying Shrines makes the Patron more aggressive, faster, and more damaging; Weakened Patron HP regeneration rose from 80 to 120, and its out-of-combat delay fell from 30 to 20 seconds. Rejuv respawn-time reduction fell from 75% to 50%, and Mid Boss health gained per minute rose from 350 to 425.

How to adapt: When shooting troopers near structures, account for the brief change in their target priority. Recheck Shrine and Patron states before choosing whether to keep pressuring or disengage, and update expectations for Rejuv and Mid Boss fights; these changes alone do not establish a guaranteed siege or fight outcome.

Update powerup and item expectations

What changed: Movement Powerup stamina regeneration rose from 20% to 30%, sprint speed from +2 to +3, and zipline bonus from 30% to 50%. Gun Powerup ammo rose from +30% to +40%; powerup durations rose from 150 to 160 seconds. Selected item changes include Monster Rounds health from +50 to +65, Slowing Bullets weapon damage from 14% to 16%, and Point Blank bullet shield from 250 to 300 and weapon damage from 40% to 45%. Cold Front base damage fell from 115 to 100 while its Spirit Power damage scaling rose from 0.98 to 1.25.

How to adapt: Check the updated powerup effects and duration rather than relying on old values. For items, compare the changed attributes with your needs and test them in context; the notes do not establish a universally best purchase or build.

Recheck hero movement, damage, and ability upgrades

What changed: Lash's base sprint fell from 3 to 1, as did Lady Geist's from 2 to 1. Infernus's Afterburn base DPS fell from 18 to 15 and T3 DPS from 33 to 30, while Spirit scaling rose from 0.4 to 0.5. Seven's Static Charge stun duration fell from 1.25 to 1.1 seconds; its T2 radius increased from +5m to +7m, and Seven takes 25% less headshot damage. Pocket's Affliction deals the same total damage over 18 rather than 16 seconds. Its Enchanter's Satchel T3 upgrade now applies -40% fire rate for 4 seconds instead of disarming for 2.5 seconds.

How to adapt: Recheck movement-based rotations for Lash and Lady Geist. Test Seven's shorter stun and larger T2 radius separately, and treat Seven's headshot reduction as a general change rather than an ability upgrade. For Infernus, assess the altered base damage and scaling with your Spirit investment; for Pocket, account for Affliction's slower damage and the changed T3 effect rather than expecting the old disarm.

Other useful general changes

What changed: The revised corner-shooting check allows firing when a reasonable portion of the hero is exposed and may make the hero lean out. The notes also say vision through Cosmic Veil is based on hero position rather than camera position, and fix a teleporters interruption issue. The minimum hero roster requirement fell from 4 to 3; Oceanic servers and a matchmaking region were added.

How to adapt: Test corner peeks and Cosmic Veil vision with attention to hero position rather than camera placement; the notes do not promise a particular outcome in every situation. If arranging a roster or selecting a matchmaking region, use the updated minimum and check the client for testing times.
