Historical patch guide

Deadlock Historical Guide — July 4, 2025

July 4 changes global damage and boon rewards, Mid Boss and lane-objective economics, and cooldown rules; retest early trades and objective plans.

Patch date: . Guide reviewed 2026-11-03. Historical changes can be superseded; use current definitions for a match today.

How this guide was prepared: AI-assisted analysis with a separate source-check pass against archived official notes. Practical decisions are reasoned suggestions, not player-tested results or measured win-rate evidence. A small hotfix receives a short guide rather than a reconstructed full build.

Original update sources

Recorded topics: Heroes, Items, Gameplay, Fixes. Dates refer to the update named in the notes; a mirrored post can be published later.

Retest damage and boon choices

What changed: Bullet cycle time increases 5% for all heroes, and ability base damage and AP bonus damage decrease by about 8%; spirit-power growth is unchanged. Spirit gained from leveling falls from 1.25 to 1.1. The 300- and 600-Soul boons exchange an AP and an Ability Unlock. Hero-specific examples include Infernus losing bullet growth and Afterburn DPS while gaining Afterburn spirit scaling, and Sinclair losing base bullet damage while Rabbit Hex gains movement speed but loses range and has a longer detonation delay.

How to adapt: Recheck early damage and boon choices rather than assuming old breakpoints still hold. If playing Sinclair, test the shorter Rabbit Hex reach against its increased movement bonus; these notes do not establish which hero or damage route is strongest.

Recalculate objective plans

What changed: Mid Boss gains 15% HP, while its spirit resistance from abilities and items both falls to 20%. Its warning sound begins at 70% HP rather than 60%, and the Rejuvenator drop duration falls from 8 to 7 seconds. The boss bounty becomes 2000 + 50 per minute, split evenly among the killing team and separate from securing Rejuvenator. Rejuvenator duration changes to 3/4/5 minutes and its trooper health bonus falls from 200/230/260% to 170/200/230%. Guardian and Walker total bounties fall to 1000 and 3500; Guardian base resistance rises from 40% to 60%, with a 10-minute decay.

How to adapt: Coordinate around the earlier Mid Boss warning and shorter drop window, and distinguish the shared boss bounty from securing Rejuvenator. Reassess lane-objective priorities using the reduced structure bounties; the notes do not establish a fixed objective order.

Separate ability and item cooldown planning

What changed: Cooldown Reduction is renamed Ability Cooldown Reduction and no longer affects items. The new T4 Transcendent Cooldown, built from Superior Cooldown, provides 30% Ability Cooldown Reduction and 30% Item Cooldown Reduction; Superior Cooldown’s ability reduction rises from 24% to 25%. Counterspell’s cooldown falls from 25 to 20 seconds and it gains 100 health and 8 Spirit Power; a successful parry now provides 150 healing.

How to adapt: Check ability and item cooldown effects separately when comparing setups: the renamed stat no longer affects items, while Transcendent Cooldown explicitly provides both types of reduction. Test Counterspell’s revised benefits in situations where its parry and cooldown matter; the patch does not establish a best build.

Account for specific item changes

What changed: Ricochet loses fire rate and no longer bounces off objectives. Fortitude’s regeneration falls from 3% to 2% and it no longer grants +22% Weapon Damage.

How to adapt: Do not rely on Ricochet bouncing off objectives, and reassess Fortitude if your setup depended on its removed weapon damage or previous regeneration. These adjustments do not establish overall item superiority.

Verify relevant hit-registration fixes

What changed: The update fixes contested soul-orb shots near the end of the window failing to register as hits, some AoE abilities not hitting Mid Boss, and McGinnis Mini Turrets missing grounded or sliding targets.

How to adapt: In relevant matches, check orb registration near the contest window’s end and test the specified abilities or turret targeting against those targets. These fixes do not show that every hit or targeting case is error-free.
